Theseus goes to Athens and is treated as a hero, making the king jealous. The Athenians tell Theseus that 14 people are sacrificed to the Minotaur of the Cretan King Minos annually, so Theseus volunteers himself to be a sacrifice. With the help of Minos's daughter, Theseus kills the Minotaur and escapes to Athens, where he is crowned king. Theseus ends up going to the underworld to kidnap Helen and Persephone, but is trapped by Hades, but saved by Hercules, his cousin and role model. Theseus ends up executing his son because of a false accusation from a woman who was rejected by Hippolytus. Theseus is then killed by his friend, King Lycomedes who feared his power.
